£500

In plain terms

What the £500 actually covers.

The whole job, from the first conversation to the site being live and working on your own web address.

Design

The look of the site: layout, colour, typography and imagery, chosen to suit your business and the customers you want to reach.

Website build

The site built properly and tested so it works on mobile, tablet and desktop, with SSL security and a contact or enquiry form where appropriate.

Personalisation

Your services, your wording, your photographs, your contact details. Existing business information and content is used wherever it applies.

Domain setup

Initial domain setup is included. An existing web address gets connected to the new site; if you do not have one, it is registered and set up as part of the work. Clear information about your domain and the arrangement around it is provided in the final agreement.

Initial launch

The site is checked, basic SEO setup is completed and the website is put live for you.

First 12 months of hosting

Normal small-business website hosting for the first year, included in the £500. See the note below for how hosting works after that.

Hosting, honestly

The bit most people skip past.

It is worth reading, because it is short and there is nothing hidden in it.

The first 12 months

Hosting is included for the first 12 months based on normal small-business website traffic. If traffic becomes unusually high and causes substantially increased hosting or bandwidth costs, additional hosting charges may apply. Any significant additional cost will be discussed with the customer before it is incurred.

After the first year

Continued hosting is available for an annual renewal fee. The renewal price is confirmed with you before the first year expires, so you can decide in good time.

For an ordinary small-business website this simply means: your site is hosted, it stays online, and nothing unexpected turns up on an invoice.

Beyond the standard package

Some things are quoted separately.

The £500 package covers what most small businesses need. If you want something bigger — an online shop, a booking or payment system, a large number of pages, ongoing changes after launch — tell me what you have in mind and you will get a straight price for it.

Nothing gets added to the bill without being agreed first.

Ask, and you get a number, not a proposal document.

Questions

Before you get in touch.

If something is not answered here, ask. A short email gets a short answer.

Is £500 really the whole price?

Yes, for the standard package — design, website build, personalisation, domain setup, initial launch and the first 12 months of normal website hosting. Anything beyond that is quoted separately and only ever after you have asked for it.

What happens to hosting after 12 months?

Continued hosting is available for an annual renewal fee, and the renewal price is confirmed with you before the first year expires.

Could hosting cost more than expected?

Hosting is included for the first 12 months based on normal small-business website traffic. If traffic becomes unusually high and causes substantially increased hosting or bandwidth costs, additional hosting charges may apply. Any significant additional cost will be discussed with the customer before it is incurred. For a typical small-business website this does not come up.

Who deals with the domain name?

Initial domain setup is part of the £500. If you already have a web address it gets connected to the new site; if not, one is set up for you. The details of your domain and the arrangement around it are set out clearly in the final agreement.

How much of my time will this take?

Realistically: one conversation at the start, sending over whatever business information you already have, and one round of reasonable feedback when you review the site. Timescales depend on how quickly content and feedback come back, and dates are agreed with you rather than assumed.

Can I ask for changes once I have seen it?

That is exactly what the review step is for. You look over the website and come back with reasonable feedback, and the changes are made before launch.

What do you need from me to start?

Your business details, your existing website if you have one, and a short description of what you want the site to do. Anything else can be worked out as we go.
